In Ayurvedic medicine, Turmeric is considered the golden goddess–not only for its vibrant golden color but also for the multitude of health benefits it possesses. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe digestion, calm the nervous system, and boost immunity. I love to make a cup of golden milk in the evening before bed. It is delicious and beyond easy to make. If you are not inclined to make it yourself, you can get Gaia’s Golden Milk already made for you (not a promotion). It is just excellent!
I drink mine with coconut milk and put a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg on the top. My little trick is to use a handheld aerolatte milk frother in a small pot to mix. It has been one of the many healthy treats I have used over the years to boost my immunity and promote sleep.
When you live with EBV, lowering inflammation, getting good sleep, and keeping your immune system boosted is essential to your well being! I have included a Golden Milk recipe below, feel free to give it a try and make substitutions according to your dietary restrictions.
1 cup of coconut milk (can replace with almond milk or any other non-dairy milk)
1-2 tsp maple syrup, honey (you can also use stevia to taste)
1 tsp coconut butter
1/2 tsp pure vanilla
1/2 tsp of organic cinnamon or cinnamon stick while warming
1/4 tsp of organic Turmeric
1/8 tsp of organic ginger
1 pinch of black pepper
Place all ingredients in a small pot. Heat slowly, but do not boil. Use aerolatte handheld frother to mix well in the pot. Pour into your favorite mug and top with grated nutmeg. Enjoy!
