Nothing says summer better to me than the mountain lake house!
That clean, crisp smell of the mountain air combined with the sun’s warmth and the crystal clear lake waters brimming with a touch of cool from the mountain stream all invoke dreams of lazy summer days. The pure joy of jumping off the boathouse or running off the dock with reckless abandon and plunging into the crystal clear albeit chilly waters of the lake, seeing the toes dangling below, and swimming around in circles to get warmed up from the shock of that first plunge. Ahhh-
yep, that is summer!
We recently finished remodeling a lakehouse on beautiful Lake Burton nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was a labor of love that I’m happy to add to my portfolio.
Properties on this beautiful lake are not easy to come by, so when my clients found this home situated on a beautiful part of the lake with stunning views, they jumped on it! The existing house would not accommodate their family of 5 (much less their stream of friends and extended family), so we decided to make some changes.
We took this house down to the studs and opened it up, changed the location of the staircase and added a guest house. Then we added shiplap, pitched ceilings and the Panoramic collapsible doors to fully open the inside to the outside area. We went with patterned cement tile to keep up with the casual vibe of lake life and compliment the owner’s style.
When planning the color palette, we wanted to move beyond the browns and earth tones of the typical lake house, so we painted the exterior a deep blue with white trim, and to add to the character, we painted the exterior doors a sunny yellow!
We are excited to show you all how it turned out- comfortable and cozy, with stunning lake views and plenty of space for the whole family to enjoy- Love Love!
